 » recycling services

Waste Connections offers municipal, commercial, industrial and residential recycling services for a variety of recyclable materials, including cardboard, office paper, plastic containers, glass bottles and ferrous and aluminum metals. The company owns and operates recycling processing facilities (MRF's) and sells other collected recyclable materials to third parties for processing before resale. To reduce its exposure to commodity price risk, the Company has adopted a pricing strategy of charging separate fees for both collection and processing. Recycling will continue to be an important component of state and local solid waste planning due to the public's increasing environmental awareness and expanding regulations that mandate or encourage recycling.

Recyclable Processing Operations

          Residential Recycling

  • Single or multiple bin collection service
  • Source separated or single stream collection programs

* October 1, 2008 Waste Connections of Tennessee, Inc. will be going Single Stream for recycling. Single Stream Recycling is a system in which all recyclables are mixed together in the collection truck and sorted at the automated processing facility. This will offer residents not currently getting curbside pick up of their recyclables a simpler way to recycle since they will no longer have to take it to a recycling center and they will no longer have to separate materials. The new program will increase the curbside materials accepted for recycling.

New materials will include:

mixed paper
mail
magazines
phone books
cardboard
plastics (numbers 1-7)
glass
metal/aluminum cans
newspaper

 Commercial Recycling
